Abstract

This research aims to explore the understanding and implementation of junior high school (SMP) mathematics teachers in integrating the ethnomathematics approach in the mathematics learning process. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through classroom observations, interviews with mathematics teachers, and analysis of documents related to the curriculum. The research results show that the majority of teachers have a basic understanding of ethnomathematics concepts, but their implementation is still limited. Factors such as lack of specialized training and limited resources are the main obstacles in integrating ethnomathematics. Nevertheless, this research provides insight into the potential for further development in efforts to increase the understanding and application of ethnomathematics by junior high school mathematics teachers. The implications of this research include recommendations for curriculum development and teacher training to increase the integration of ethnomathematics in mathematics learning at the junior high school level.
